Brussels

I have been to Brussels a few times before but never really did visit the city. Neither did I spend more than a couple of hours in the city previously, as it was always a place for transit. This trip, though meant to come here to catch the plane to London, we deliberately made it here a day earlier wanting to see the city a little bit more.

After securing a room with a budget hotel,
we headed straight to the centre. We wanted to just spend the evening in a local restaurant serving mussels and beers which is indeed nothing fancy for this city.

After dinner, we walked around the Grand Place before going back to the hotel; of what was intended to be an easy and relaxing night after a not quite practical long train ride from Interlaken that morning.

The next morning, we headed towards the magnificent Grand Place again via some cobblestone streets. Surrounding the square are the Guild Houses, the Gothic Town Hall, the King's House and more. Next, the Manneken Pis - a famous landmark of Brussels, which took me quite a bit of effort to find it.

Before heading back to the Grand Place, we bought some Belgian chocolates in a shop next to it Manneken Pis. We did some more strolling around the Grand Place before we boarded the bus bound for the airport.
